Our outreach began on August 20th 2023 and has steadily grown and developed. It has been a team effort. Suggestions and improvements we have implemented have come from across the team.
Give or take the odd week of inclement weather or special holidays, we have been going out on the streets every week on market days with our display stand, six hours a week. We have also fronted a couple of worship concerts too.
We started off inviting people to follow Jesus, telling people there is a God, that God is Love. Over 90% of people do not have God on their radar. We were being witnesses to Jesus. We had some success, but felt we needed to step up a gear.
Looking to Scripture we observed that Jesus went around with the message, ‘repent and believe’, and so did the disciples with signs and wonders following.
So, we decided to do likewise, and with a new tract, ‘God is calling you!’ we went out to do the same.
Just as we stepped up, we feel God has stepped up too. We are now engaging with people in a more fruitful way. Most noticeably people are coming to us to enquire about Jesus without any prior prompting on our part.
We now feel called to step up even further.
So once more we have returned to Scripture and been delighted to find a way forward.
The Book of Joel and Acts 2 are inextricably linked to engender the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the salvation and deliverance of people. So, we are going to try and do what Scripture tells us here and in particular, call a sacred assembly. What is it? See our web site.
We have handouts to give out from our display stand, a web site to look at, and that is how we plan start.
We are inspired by the story of the small boy who gave his basket of food to Jesus, who then took it and magnified it 5000+ fold.
Though we are small in number, lowly and almost insignificant in the grand scheme of things, we do have the faith that, one way or another, our small offering, this sacred assembly call, will be blessed by the Lord.
I watched a video recently where Bill Johnson urged us to eagerly desire gifts of the Holy Spirit. He encourages us to pray for a dual gift of ‘prayer along with service’ to meet the needs of revival. I pray for that today.
God bless,
John
It goes without saying that the fundamental inspiration for calling a sacred assembly and generating the documentation has been through prayer, meditating on Scripture, and the help of the Lord.
Much of the content has been honed (refined and improved to a high degree) in the light of the sharing that goes on at Hollybush Christian Fellowship. Themes like repentance, returning to the Lord, being one in unity, outreach, not grieving the Holy Spirit, praying for revival, have repeatedly been articulated by members of the fellowship.
Particular people I would like to mention, for their guidance, support and encouragement, knowingly or unknowingly, are David & Elaine Grimoldby, Julian & Helen Groves, Rev Carol Mansell, Pastor Joanna Wilkinson, Christopher Bomford, Judy Draycott and Gavin & Ann Parker.
This document describes the Sacred Assembly, a gathering of people to honour God through worship, repentance, and celebration, and to renew their relationship with Him.
It emphasizes activities such as prayer, meditation, and gathering as one, drawing upon biblical references from Joel, Acts, and John. The document also addresses the importance of repentance, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the concept of the Church, highlighting the need for unity and addressing sins within local churches.
Furthermore, it discusses the vision of “Pasture,” a spiritual way of life characterized by an intimate relationship with God and a focus on love, service, and community.
The document concludes by outlining the outcomes of the Sacred Assembly, including worship, rest, and the fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy, emphasizing the importance of unity and the growth of groups within the Christian community to support revival.
